Profile - Professional
I graduated with Honours from the University of Manchester in 1976 having
previously gained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Medical Biochemistry. I
undertook a Research Degree (MD) in heart disease in diabetes that was
completed in 1981.
I had post-graduate training in London at the
Hammersmith Hospital and the Brompton Hospital before completing my
training at the National Heart Hospital. I was appointed as a Consultant
Cardiologist at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge in 1988. I was elected a
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American
College of Cardiology.
